Birdcage

I have just linked this post to Make-It-Mondays, a blog for people to share their creative talents! I'll be joining this blog more often...
Don't you just love birds and flowers? I do. I had this idea to use up all my punched flowers that I keep saving and here is the result. The only thing is I didn't actually use up ALL my flowers! I still have a bunch more to use up so I guess I'll have to make another one of these cards. Or maybe I'll come up with another idea...
Comments are welcome, thanks for looking.

This is just a close up of the flowers....of course, you knew that.

A couple of cards

I bought this very pretty fabric that I am going to make a purse/bag out of and it inspired me to make a couple of cards using some of the colors. (I will post the bag on my Dirty Fingers blog when I am finished with it.)  I thought I would try something a little different. I took some versamark and stamped the images, then I sprinkled some clear embossing powder on them and heated it until it melted. I then used my watercolor brushes to color the flowers. I like the large yellow flower and how it came out. I am not a very talented watercolorist so if it looks interesting then I like it. I didn't like the other flowers as well so I added some glitter to them. I love the new fan dry embossing folder from SU! It is a very pretty pattern.

My second card is rather simple. I like simple, and I can usually do simple with good results. I love the vintage type cards with layering and distressing also but I don't seem to be able to manage a good looking card! Of course, I will keep trying...
This is stamped using the Fifth Avenue Floral SU set that is now retired. I really like this set and will continue to use it.

Color Throwdown Challenge #200

My card for the Color Throwdown challenge #200. I decided to make a cake! I got the cake die from Stampin' Up! and have not used it much. It is a lot of fun but they retired it last year. I'm just glad I got it before it was gone. There are a lot of different cakes you can make with this die. I've seen some beautiful wedding cake cards made with this die.

Here are the colors we were supposed to use:

As you can see I was inspired by the picture and used the colors that I had embellishments for. I learned that I don't have any pink passion ribbon so I dyed it using the ink pad. I also didn't have much for embellishments that were turquoise either. I used what I had that was close. The blue paper is turquoise even though it looks like a lighter color.

Here is a close up of the front of the card. Thanks for looking and please leave a comment!

Color Throwdown #198

This is my card for the Color Throwdown #198 this week. I couldn't get a very good picture of this card because when I went to use my camera the batteries were dead. It is after midnight here, so I can't just run out and get some new batteries. I will run to the store tomorrow and if I have enough time I will take another picture and post it. So, I had to use my scanner and it makes the card a little shaded on one side, but you can still see everything pretty well. (I got some batteries and took better pictures.)

The colors we had to use are the following:

I used the Pool Party color for the clouds on the background that the owls are on. I tried to make it look like clouds. The flower looks better in real time, the scanner makes it so "flatish," if that is a word. Everything on the card is paper, except the pearl in the center of the flower. Why did I buy so many embellishments? All supplies are Stampin' Up! I hope you like it.
